I’ve been writing several children’s book manuscripts, inspired by Liz Garton Scanlon’s classes on the subject. I’ve attended two of her classes recently and highly recommend her as a teacher of picture book writing. My latest manuscript is called Hide and Freak. It’s about a girl playing hide and seek with her brother, and her rising anxiety as she can’t find him when bedtime is fast approaching. My daughter has always been plagued with anxiety. This book is meant to be a release from it for younger children, as it ends happily, of course.
I’m trotting it out on submission now. I need an agent that represents children’s up to YA! I refuse to write for a single audience, when childhood is wonderful and scary and beautiful at each age.
